Hope comes to Africa

In February, Shalom Catholic Community missions in Europe began a fundraising campaign to help our missions on the African continent.

The campaign, “Your help brings hope to Africa”, continues through to the end of July. Since the campaign began four months ago, we have received significant amounts of financial aid, as well as witnessed the fruits of Divine Providence. With the monies already collected, we can begin the apostolic works at the mission in Lubango, Angola.

The Shalom Community has been present on the African continent since 2007. In January 2019, Community missionaries arrived in Lubango to establish our 6th mission in Africa. Initially, the missionaries worked to structure the house where the apostolic activities will take place.

The donated money will be used to purchase such basic things like chairs to welcome the people from the local community and to fund evangelization activities.

“These plastic chairs will be used to welcome the people who come to our masses and prayer groups. Most of our furniture is borrowed and we own only the refrigerator, the stove and the beds. But we want to offer the best we can afford to our brothers and sisters who come to our house, and of course, these chairs will help us to provide better physical comfort to the people that God gives us to evangelize. We thank each and every one of you for your gifts. You are always in our prayers, especially on the days when we Worship the Blessed Sacrament. We are very grateful – even a chair for us means a lot!” (Benivalda Jesus de Carvalho, responsible of the Shalom Community in Lubango)

With your donations, you can continue to help bring hope to the African continent!
